(Picture of me, possibly with eye contact instead of looking into the distance, but with a mountain landscape that conveys a feeling of vastness and longing, as in the example picture.)

Being free, trying new things, seeing the world. That has always been my thing.

So I harvested melons in Australia, picked apples in New Zealand, taught snowboarding in Austria, checked in hotel guests in Spain, tried out big city life in Berlin and found my new home in Switzerland. Mountains, nature, snowboarding, mountain biking, living in a motorhome – a dream come true for me. And yet something was missing: more meaning and self-determination in my job, a better salary, future prospects. But I didn't ask for more. And I stayed. I also had little self-confidence and was often insecure when dealing with other people. On top of that, I was in a relationship that took a lot of energy and increasingly drove me to despair. Nevertheless, I clung to it desperately.

Are you familiar with such lazy compromises? Better a job that only moderately fulfils you than the uncertainty of trying something new? Better a poor salary than a potentially unpleasant conversation with an uncertain outcome? Better a painful relationship than none at all? Better to stay strong, it'll work out somehow...?

The sudden end of this relationship finally led me to the right questions...

Questions like these:

What specific steps can you take to feel better?

What would someone who truly appreciates themselves despite their weaknesses do?

What do you really want from life? What if it were truly good?

Powerful questions bring powerful answers. And results.

For me, one of those was my first coaching training course at the Dr. Bock Coaching Academy, which is considered an elite training ground for professional coaching. I wanted to finally take my long-cherished dream of self-employment seriously – and do so in a meaningful job that reflects my values.

Dr. Petra Bock, the founder of the academy, had just published her latest book at the time: ‘Der entstörte Mensch: Wie wir uns und die Welt verändern | Warum wir nach dem technischen jetzt den menschlichen Fortschritt brauchen’ (The Undisturbed Human: How We Change Ourselves and the World | Why Now, After Technical Progress, We Need Human Progress).

I am convinced that we need this human progress – especially now. And we can indeed change ourselves and the world.

Let's start with ourselves!
